afternoon when the Orlando Magic welcome the Houston Rockets to Amway Arena.
Houston was downed by Atlanta, 105-99, despite a game-high 37 points by former
Magic Tracy McGrady. Rafer Alston contributed 23 points and nine assists for
the Rockets, who have lost two of their last three contests.
The defeat dropped Houston to 14-13 on the road this season. The club is
currently fifth overall in the Western Conference and hosts Boston on Monday.
Orlando, meanwhile, saw Chauncey Billups pour in 28 points and Richard
Hamilton 22 to help Detroit rally in the fourth quarter to defeat the Magic,
94-89.
Dwight Howard was a force with 20 points and 13 boards, while Hedo Turkoglu
also notched 20 points for the Magic, who have dropped three straight. Grant
Hill finished with 15 points and five boards for the Magic.
Orlando's recent losing skid has dropped it two games below .500 at 27-29 and
5 1/2 games back of Washington for the lead in the Southeast Division. The
Magic are 18-11 as the host this season and are now seventh overall in the
East.
The club will get little rest as it opens a four-game road trip on Monday in
Chicago.
Today's game is the first of the season between the two teams. Orlando and
Houston split a pair of matchups last season, but the Rockets have won seven
of the last eight in the series.
Houston has won four in a row at Orlando.
