Crede's RBI double lifts Twins over Blue Jays in 11
Baseball Betting Lines
04/14/2009 -
Minneapolis, MN (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Joe Crede doubled in the winning run in the
bottom of the 11th inning to lift the Minnesota Twins past Toronto, 3-2, and
end a lengthy losing streak to the Blue Jays.
Justin Morneau finished 3-for-5 with a double and a run batted in for the
Twins, who had dropped 10 straight to the league's lone team from Canada. Glen
Perkins gave up two runs on seven hits over eight innings, but came away with
a no-decision. Jesse Crain (1-0) tossed the final two frames to collect the
win.
Rod Barajas had two hits and knocked in a run for the Blue Jays. Ricky Romero
did not factor into the decision after surrendering two runs on eight hits in
eight innings of work. Jesse Carlson (0-1) was saddled with the loss after
yielding one run on two hits in 1 2/3 innings.
With one away in the 11th, Morneau smacked a single through the hole on the
right side of the infield. After Michael Cuddyer flied out, Crede drilled a
ball to the center field wall that allowed Morneau to score all the way from
first base.
Barajas put Toronto on the board with a two-out, RBI single in the second
inning, but a ground-rule double by Morneau in the fourth plated Denard Span,
who led off the frame with a base hit.
Minnesota seized the lead in the fifth when Crede doubled to begin the inning
and scored on a one-out single by Mike Redmond.
The Twins looked to blow the game open in the sixth as the first three batters
reached base. Romero, though, managed to pitch out of trouble, fanning Cuddyer
and getting Crede to bounce into a double play.
That missed opportunity loomed large as Toronto tied the game in the eighth.
Alex Rios slapped a two-out double down the left-field line and scampered home
on a base hit by Vernon Wells.
Game Notes
Scott Rolen added two hits for Toronto...Both clubs left six men on
base...The Blue Jays' Aaron Hill went 0-for-5 to snap an eight-game hitting
streak.

MySportsbook.com: NBA Championship Odds
With the playoffs about two months away, the top two teams in the Western Conference are the clear cut leaders to win the NBA Championship. The Dallas Mavericks have the best record in the NBA (44-9) and have been absolutely scorching since the second week of the season. What makes the Mavs’ record more impressive is the fact that they dropped their first four games of the season. Currently they have won 17 out of their last 18 and are MySportsbook.com’s favorite (2-1) to win it all. Right behind the Mavs are the Pacific leading Phoenix Suns (39-13). Last season, the Suns lost in the Conference Finals to non-other then the Mavericks four games to two. Of course the Suns were without center Amare Stoudemire who has is averaging 19.9 PPG and 9.5 RPG since coming back from his knee injury. Unlike the Mavs, the Suns have struggled a bit lately having lost their last three and four out of their last seven. Of course the main reason for their three straight loses is due to the absence of two time MVP Steve Nash, who is out with a shoulder injury. Heads-up, the Mavs have beaten the Suns in both of their meetings this season.
In the Eastern Conference, the Pistons (32-19) are the favorites to win it all at 6-1. The addition of Chris Webber seems to have been a good move for the Pistons. Since coming over from the 76ers, Webber has averaged 13.1 PPG and 7.3 RPG and the Pistons are 11-4. Even though the defending champion Heat are currently on the playoff making cusp, they are the Eastern Conference team that is getting the most action to win it all (9-1). The fact that Shaquille O’Neal is back in the starting lineup after missing 39 games probably has something to do with this. No doubt, Shaq makes a difference when in the lineup as their winning six out of their last seven would indicate.
