Coyotes visit Avs in Denver
Hockey Betting Lines
12/23/2008 -
(Sportsbook Betting Lines) - After having a six-game point streak halted, the Phoenix Coyotes get right back to work tonight in a road test against the Colorado Avalanche at the Pepsi Center.
The Coyotes entered last night's game with Edmonton having won two straight
while going 4-0-2 over their previous six games. However, they were dealt a
4-2 loss by the Oilers.
Martin Hanzal and Enver Lisin tallied for the Coyotes, who failed to match
their season high for consecutive wins, set from November 8-12.
Ilya Bryzgalov had posted a 1.79 goals against average over the Coyotes' point
streak, but was rested last night in favor of Mikael Tellqvist. Tellqvist took
the loss after allowing four goals on 27 shots faced.
Bryzgalov should return to net tonight and is 3-2-1 with a 2.50 goals against
average in six all-time outings against Colorado.
Phoenix remained three points back of Anaheim for second place in the Pacific
Division and also fell to 5-10-2 on the road this year. The Coyotes are 1-3-1
over their last five as the visiting club and conclude a three-game road trip
in Los Angeles on Friday.
Colorado capped a four-game road trip on Sunday, finishing 2-2-0 after a 3-0
loss in Florida. The Panthers' Tomas Vokoun halted all 23 shots faced in the
contest.
Peter Budaj allowed two goals on 23 shots for the Avalanche, who lost for just
the second time in 13 all-time road meetings with the Panthers. Budaj is 6-2-3
with a 2.70 GAA in his career versus the Coyotes.
Paul Stastny had scored in three straight games before being held without a
goal on Sunday. He leads the Avalanche with 19 assists and 28 points and has
five goals and three helpers in eight career games against the Coyotes.
Marek Svatos missed his fifth straight game due to a back injury and is
questionable for tonight. Ruslan Salei is also questionable after he left
Sunday's contest early when he crashed hard into the boards. He is day-to-day
with an upper-body injury.
Colorado begins a three-game homestand tonight and is 8-6-0 as the host this
year. The Avs have won four of their last five at home.
Phoenix notched a 2-1 home win over Colorado on November 28 for its fourth win
in the last five meetings. The Coyotes have also won their last three at the
Pepsi Center since going winless in 10 contests there.

The 2009 AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year odds have been released and Denver Broncos' running back Knowshon Moreno has been made the opening favorite.
Bet NFL Sports Lines
Moreno was selected in the first round of April's NFL draft and is expected to carry the rushing load for the Broncos this season. And with Jay Cutler now in Chicago, Moreno might be expected to be Denver's entire offense.
Betting Lines from sports betting lines have made Moreno a 5/2 favorite to win this year's Offensive Rookie of the Year Award. Fellow running back Chris “Beanie” Wells (Arizona Cardinals) is right behind Moreno at 7/2, while Donald Brown (Indianapolis Colts) and receiver Michael Crabtree (San Francisco 49ers) are 5/1 to win. Quarterbacks Mark Sanchez (New York Jets) and Matthew Stafford (Detroit Lions) are 7/1 and 8/1, respectively.
A couple of players who present some value are Josh Freeman, Shonn Green and Darrius Heyward-Bey.
Freeman needs to beat out Byron Leftwich to become the starting quarterback of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but if he does, he has a lot or raw talent and could use the weapons around him (i.e. Kellen Winslow Jr. and Antonio Bryant) to be very successful in his first season.
Green enters a crowded backfield in New York, but considering both Thomas Jones and Leon Washington are unhappy about their contract situations and might holdout, the former Iowa product could become the Jets' primary back.
Everyone was shocked when Al Davis took Heyward-Bey with the eighth overall pick in April's draft, but the kid has a tremendous amount of talent and if quarterback JaMarcus Russell takes the next step this year, the former Maryland product could blossom. Plus, Heyward-Bey will be looking to prove the people wrong who said Oakland should have taken Michael Crabtree with the No. 8 pick.
And if you're looking for a deep sleeper, check out Pat White at 30/1. He enters the Miami Dolphins vaunted “Wild Cat” offense and could be a big time playmaker.
