Cavs shoot for commanding 3-0 series lead over Pistons
Basketball Betting Lines
04/24/2009 -
(Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Six straight trips to the Eastern Conference finals is
slowly being lost in the rear-view mirror by this group of Detroit Pistons.
The new bullies on the block in the East, LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, hope to put the Pistons on the brink of elimination tonight when
their conference quarterfinals series resumes in Auburn Hills.
The Cavs took a commanding 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven set on Tuesday when
James scored 29 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and added six assists to lead top-
seeded Cleveland to a 94-82 win over Detroit at Quicken Loans Arena.
Mo Williams totaled postseason career highs of 21 points and seven assists for
the Cavs, who beat the Pistons for the sixth straight time in the playoffs.
Delonte West added 20 points and Zydrunas Ilgauskas had 12 in the win.
"You look at the first seven quarters of Game 1 and Game 2; tremendous
basketball," James said. "Defensively, we've been on the string and we've
helped each other out. We've out-rebounded them both games, which has been
pretty good."
Richard Hamilton recorded 17 points for the Pistons, who lost Game 1 of this
series by a score of 102-84 on Saturday. Rodney Stuckey added 14 points and
Will Bynum had a postseason career-high 13 points in defeat.
"I think our mindset is still positive," Hamilton said. "They did what they
were supposed to do. They won two games at home. Now it's our job to go home
and take care of our home court. This ain't nothing new. We know what it takes
to win."
Cleveland last faced Detroit in the playoffs in the 2006-07 Eastern Conference
finals and defeated the Pistons, 4-2, after dropping the first two games. The
Cavs also went 3-1 against Detroit in the regular season.
These two clubs are meeting in the NBA Playoffs for the third time in
franchise history, all in the last four seasons. The Cavaliers now lead the
all- time playoff series 9-6 and have won seven of their eight home games
against Detroit in the playoffs.
Cleveland is just 2-5 in the postseason at The Palace, however.
Game 4 of the series is scheduled for Sunday ay in Auburn Hills.

MySportsbook.com and Kentucky Derby Offer Bonuses
The 2008 Kentucky Derby has announced a $1-million bonus for this weekend’s 134th ‘Run for the Roses’ and MySportsbook.com is doing the same.
Well, not quite $1 million, but MySportsbook.com is offering a 75% rebate for Kentucky Derby lines. Check out the exclusive horse racing bonus for all the details.
According to MySportsbook.com, the favorites for Saturday’s Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky are: Curlin (+250); Street Sense (+500); Scat Daddy (+700); Circular Quay (+750); and Nobiz Like Shobiz (+800).
Derby organizers announced this week that there will be a $1-million bonus at the 2007 Kentucky Derby odds if the first-place horse wins by more than 6 1/2 lengths – the margin of Barbaro's victory last year. The bonus would be divided Saturday among the winning trainer, jockey, owner and a charity, with each receiving 25 percent. The designated charity is the Barbaro Memorial Fund.
''It's certainly creative, it's certainly fun and it has something for the horsemen, which we always want to embrace,'' Churchill Downs president and chief executive Robert Evans said at a news conference. ''What's really cool is it will force us to remember Barbaro.''
Meanwhile, the Derby favorite – Curlin – is going against the odds this year. It's been 125 years since Apollo won after skipping his 2-year-old season, and not since Regret in 1915 has such a lightly seasoned horse worn the blanket of red roses.
Arkansas Derby winner Curlin – unbeaten in three career races – tries to overcome both those obstacles in Saturday's 133rd Derby.
''We're not running against history,'' trainer Steve Asmussen said Monday. ''We're running against who they load up.''
Six other horses have run in the Derby without benefit of 2-year-old races and with three or fewer starts. The best any of them managed was a sixth-place finish by Showing Up last year.
Asmussen dismissed suggestions that Curlin's lack of racing experience could keep him from the winner's circle.
”He exudes confidence and he's got a great presence about him,'' the trainer said. ''I feel great about the position we're in. He's not worried about anything, why should you be?''
The Kentucky Derby is at 4:04 p.m., ET Saturday.

MySportsbook.com refunds all bets on Oakland, Green Bay and Tampa Bay from NFL week one.
(September 14) – Week one of NFL action saw three teams go scoreless for the first time since 1977. Another four were unable to get a touchdown and almost half of the underdogs covered the spread. Those three teams saved bettors at MySportsbook.com from losing out completely, thanks to the company’s unique NFL Shutout Rule -- which ensures that if the team you backed goes scoreless, your wager is refunded.
Sportsbook refunded tens of thousands of dollars to customers who bet on Oakland, Green Bay and Tampa Bay, the three teams that stunk up the field so badly that their fans and backers never had a chance to get up from their couches and cheer. In the spirit of the low scoring start to the season, odds makers at the world’s largest online sportsbook and casino have set odds on how many total shutouts there will be this season.
MySportsbook.com has posted updated sports betting lines for week two of the season. Ben Roethlisberger’s health status is still questionable, so Willie Parker will try to lead Pittsburgh again as they travel to Jacksonville as a one point favorite. After beating up on his little brother last week, Peyton Manning will look to lead the Colts to victory against Houston. Indianapolis is a whopping 13.5 favorite in the match-up.
Seattle, last year’s highest scoring team, showed the power of their defense with their gritty 9-6 win in Motown over the ravenous Lions. They take their act back home to the comforts of Qwest Field where they will face the resurgent Arizona Cardinals. The Seahawks are favored by a touchdown.
